I strongly believe in applying my anthropological methods outside of academia, and have worked as a UX Researcher for a decade across the public and private sector, in numerous countries and languages.
It is crucial for designers and managers of products, services and policies to understand their users, and I specialise in applying ethnographic research to translate the needs, wants, and broader life circumstances of people into terms that civil servants, developers, or product managers can relate to.
I am currently Lead UX Researcher at Gumtree and eBay Motors Group. Prior to this, I have worked across central and local government, both in the U.K. and abroad, as well as in healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, education and publishing, hospitality, and for retail companies.
I also regularly speak and coach at UX events, particularly on research ethics, conducting research with vulnerable or complex participants, and on the intersections of industry or applied versus academic research.
I am an affiliated member of the Ethnographic Praxis in Industry (EPIC) Community.
